Guillermo & his son Wilfred

Pictured on their stall at the Cabana annual fiesta. Guillermo is the ex vice-president of the co-operative and has 10 hectares.  This makes him one of the biggest local farmers. By being above subsistence levels, Guillermo is more prepared to experiment with new techniques- such as testing the organic fertilizer for its acidity or alkalinity before applying. This is important,as the success of such innovations will then be followed by smaller farmers who don’t have the financial flexibility to take on any risk. Wilfred, his son,  is very impressed by Quinola’s Express Quinoa and would like to find someone in Peru to produce it so the coop could make its own and sell in Lima
